THE BAY OF KOTOR

The Bay of Kotor is a spacious and branched bay on the southern part of the eastern Adriatic coast, the state of Montenegro along the border of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Since 1997, the Bay of Kotor has been officially included in the Association of the 28 most beautiful bays in the world.

There are nine islands in the Bay of Kotor: Prevlaka, Mamula and Vavedenje Island (Žanjica or Mala Gospa) at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, Gospa od Milosti, Sveti Marko and Otok Cvijeća (Miholjska prevlaka), Zanovjetni Školjic in Tivat Bay, and Krtoljska uvala and Our Lady of Skrpjela and Sveti Juraj in Risan Bay.

It is best to visit the Bay of Kotor from the sea. A walk through the bay is full of variety and surprises. It is only up close that it can be seen again that the bay does not stop and that the strait is expanding into a new bay, which hid a bare limestone ridge. Landscapes are constantly and rapidly changing, and each has its own peculiarities, beauties and charms. The richness and diversity of images is one of the main features of the Bay of Kotor. Bare limestone ridges and a plush green belt along the coast differ from each other in climate. While the tops of the limestone shores are covered with snow, lemons bloom on the gentle shore and palm groves evoke all the beauty of tropical vegetation.
